興文縣，隸屬四川省宜賓市，位于四川省南部山區，宜賓市境東南，東南與敘永縣相鄰，南與云南省威信縣接壤，西接珙縣，西北接長寧，北與江安、瀘州市納溪區毗鄰，總面積1379.89平方千米。 

興文縣歷史悠久，是古代僰人繁衍生息和最終消亡之地，四川省苗族聚居人口最多的縣，是川南早期革命的主要發源地，紅軍北上抗日的途經地，川滇黔邊區紅軍游擊縱隊的主要策源地和轉戰地，民族文化、紅色文化、地方文化風情濃郁，曾留下楊升庵題詠和朱德賦詩。擁有國家重點風景名勝區、世界地質公園、國家AAAA級旅游景區——“興文石海”，其核心景區集世界特大天坑、地表石林、地下溶洞、臥虎景觀于一體，被中共中央原總書記胡耀邦題詞贊為：“天下奇觀”。
